The objective of the Small Business Center is to increase the success rate and the number of viable small businesses in Craven County. If you are interested in starting a small business or currently operate or work at a small business, we offer the following resources:


The Entrepreneur Academy for Aspiring and Current Entrepreneurs

Designed to prepare aspiring entrepreneurs for business ownership and help current business owners sharpen their focus.

Alternative Access to Capital

The Small Business Center offers free seminars for start-up and current business owners that are seeking a source of financing for their business that have been unsuccessful in qualifying for traditional bank loan underwriting. This is a chance to meet with and listen to the offerings of ten lenders that want to provide financing for business hopefuls and business owners. The seminar is offered jointly by the Director of the Small Business Center and the Senior Area Manager of the Small Business Administration. Apply for Borrowing

The Center is a Micro-Loan Processing Center where applications are processed for business loans up to $25,000 that are backed by a written business plan. Start today by contacting Cindy Blot at (252) 638-1166 or  blotc@cravencc.edu.

Confidential Business Counseling

Fully Funded, available at no cost.

The Small Business Center provides free Confidential counseling services for individuals wishing to start a business. It also provides counseling for small business owners who need some type of assistance. Do you have a business dream to fulfill or a business problem you need help solving? Small Business Resource Centers

The Centers provide free computer and Internet access and a variety of small business resources, including specialized software and multimedia tools, along with small business books, magazines and government resources.
