New Students
If you are a student new to Craven Community College, or new to Distance Education at Craven Community College, welcome! Whether you are pursuing a college degree, updating job skills, or taking classes for the joy of learning, we look forward to helping you complete your educational goals.
Online classes offer students the flexibility to complete course work on their schedule. Requirements vary per class, but student assignments often include
- engaging in discussions about course material,
- completing reading and writing assignments,
- taking tests,
- participating in group projects.
Online classes are delivered via Blackboard; the Academic Skills Center offers workshops helping new students navigate through Blackboard at the beginning of every semester. If you are new to online education or to Craven Community College, we encourage you to attend one of these workshops.
You can find detailed information about online classes in our Distance Education Handbook. You will also want to look at the general information on the Distance Education page and the Distance Education Tips page.
