FLEET READINESS CENTER EAST
STUDENT CAREER EXPERIENCE PROGRAM
To apply for the Student Career Experience Program, you must have completed 30 semester hours in an approved Associate in Applied Science program of study, be currently enrolled at Craven CC at the time of application, and have completed a minimum of one semester of coursework at Craven CC.
Each currently enrolled student must be recommended by his or her faculty advisor. Only complete application packages will be accepted and forwarded to FRC-East at Cherry Point.
Complete application packages include:
- OF 612 Federal Application for Employment (there is no announcement number for the Student Career Experience Program)
- OF 306 Declaration of Federal Employment
- Letter of recommendation from your advisor or an instructor in your program
- Graduation summary listing required courses you have completed, course remaining to be completed, and your anticipated graduation date
- Current Craven CC transcript
- Sign and date all documents as required
All applications that meet the requirements and include the four required elements will be date-stamped and forwarded to FRC-East for consideration. FRC-East will make the determination concerning applicant interviews and will schedule interview dates.

Choices® Planner
Choices® Planner is an online career information delivery system that helps students compare, connect, and choose from a career network of work and education options. Students can build portfolios and plan career strategies using the Career Plan Builder. Validated assessments identify skills and increase students' self-awareness to provide information needed make informed decisions. All work is securely stored in "Your Portfolio."
In Choices® Planner:
- Comprehensive career, school and program reports provide the latest available information with easy-to-use tabs and connections to related careers and programs.
- Students can compare two careers side by side, as well as compare a career or school to their own needs and preferences.
- Up-to-date content is easy to locate with intuitive navigation and a variety of search functions.
- Assessments include an Interest Profiler (including a Spanish version), Work Values Sorter, Basic Skills Survey, Workplace Skills Checklist, and others.
- Over 250 career videos and Spanish career videos are available for viewing online.
- A resume builder, job interview practice, cover letter creator, and additional tools are available to assist students in job searching.
- Students can store education and career plans, assessment results, activities, ideas, and more in their secure online portfolios.
To access Choices® Planner, students will need Craven's Site ID and Password. If you do not have a site ID and Password, send your email request to thomasw@cravencc.edu . Set up your portfolio and use your unique Portfolio name and Password to access your Planner each semester. If you already have Craven's site ID and password, click here to access Choices® Planner. Counselors are available in Student Services, Brock Bldg., to assist you with interpreting your assessment results.

What Can I Do With This Major?
Finally, a convenient website that helps you connect majors with careers. For each major that interests you, choose "either the PDF or HTML version" to find an outline of common career areas, typical employers, and strategies designed to maximize career opportunities. Choose "Links" to find a list of websites that provide information about listed majors and related careers.
Keep in mind that the information sheets and websites are representative of typical career paths associated with each major and not a comprehensive list. You may want to explore information and websites from multiple majors to help you learn about a wide range of career opportunities.
