| Student email provides the official communication between our Faculty and Staff members of Craven Community College and our students. This service is created for providing an email account for all students. Our goal is to provide a reliable, practical, secure, feature rich web mail environment with limited banner advertisements. Functionality includes providing faculty and staff listings to communicate with students enrolled in specific classes or programs. |
How do I "Establish" an email account?

How do I "Reset my email account password"?

To reset a CCC Login account password once you log in, please follow the below instructions:
- Browse to http://gmail.student.cravencc.edu
- Login to your account
- Select email
- Select the settings link in the upper right hand corner of screen
- Click on accounts label
- Go to change password

How Do I "Reset My Secret Questions"?

How do I find out my user name for CCC email?

| Your username is the same as in WebAdvisor: firstname.lastname. Contact the CCC Helpdesk at 1-877-982-2233 (1-877-98CCCDE) if you have additional login questions or concerns. |
How do I select an email account password? Can I use any password I want? What if I forget my password?

| Your original password will be your birth date: MMDDYYYY. When you change your password, it can be any combination of letters and numbers, but it must be at least (8) characters in length. If you forget your password you can always reset it at http://gmail.student.cravencc.edu. If you forget your Secret Question, please call 1-877-982-2233 (1-877-98CCCDE) |
What features are available in the CCC student email system?

| Web based access to email allows for easy access from any computer with internet access and a web browser. Integrated email features such as spell check, folder functionality and rule management, configurable email filters, incoming and outgoing virus scan, anti-spam mechanism, and faculty and staff address books are included when your account is set up. Additional functionality available from Google’s line of services will be integrated in a phased approached. Some features may not be integrated into CCC’s environment. |

I listed my private email account when I registered at CCC, but now I would rather use my CCC account. How do I stop having my mail forwarded to my private account?

| If your mail is forwarding from Campus Cruiser this will be stopped once the accounts are deleted in Campus Cruiser. If you entered a private email address when you registered you will have to go to CCC records or call 252-638-7229 and have them change it in our data system. |
How long can I use CCC email? Will I lose all my email at the end of every semester?

| All students who register for a class at CCC are provided an email account that does not expire. |
Is this email just for communicating within the college or can I use it to send and receive messages from friends and family?

| The primary function of the Student Email System is to provide an official communication channel between CCC and its students. College departments and instructors will use this account to communicate with you. Make sure you are following the college acceptable use policy and proper email etiquette at all times. |
Can I use Outlook Express to collect my CCC email? Is POP mail or IMAP access supported?

| No. College e-mail is accessible only through the web. In an effort to keep e-mail between the college and students secure/encrypted, e-mail clients like Outlook utilizing POP3 and other clear text communications protocols are not supported. |
How do I know if I get an email attachment with a virus? How do I know if I sent one with a virus?

| Virus scanning is built into the CCC e-mail system. Our email gateway rejects all incoming messages with infected attachments as well as non-infected but executable attachments (*.exe, *.shs, *.bat, *.com, *.vbs, etc), preventing delivery of potential threats. If you send a message that is infected, you will not be notified by email that your message contains a virus. |
What happens if I was enrolled in one class section and was part of that list but decided to change sections? Will I keep getting email from the original instructor?

| Class lists will be updated once every 24 hours. You may get messages until then but once your registration for an alternate section is complete, your list member ship will be updated within 24 hours. |
I cannot access my CCC email account from home. Is there someone at CCC who can help with my connectivity issues?

| Unfortunately, we are not able to provide support for Internet connectivity issues experienced at home. Your ISP (internet service provider) may be able to help you get connected. |
Can users on the student email system or outside the college access the class lists?

If I can get important notices forwarded to my hotmail account why should I bother getting a CCC email account?

| t is really your choice. You can continue to use your preferred e-mail provider. However, CCC student e-mail does provide secure (encrypted) communications between instructors and students, along with other features provided through Google’s Gmail. |
Can I forward my CCC email to another address?
|
To ensure reliable communications, CCC’s Gmail will provide the ability to store and forward a copy of your incoming email messages to another address If you would like to have your email forwarded follow the steps below:
- Using your CCC Login ID and Password login to student email
- Once inside CCC’s Gmail select Settings at the top right of page.
- From the Settings menu chose Forwarding and POP option.
- Select the bullet next to Forward a copy of incoming mail to
- Enter the email address you would like your CCC email to be forwarded to in the corresponding box.
- Use the drop down box to select one of the following:
- Keep Gmail’s copy in the inbox:
- This option states that a copy of every incoming email message will be stored in your CCC Gmail account as well as sent to the forwarding address you have entered.
- Archive Gmail’s copy:
- This options states that after the message is forwarded on to the email address you have entered a copy will be stored in an archive folder instead of your Gmail “Inbox”.
- Delete Gmail’s copy:
- This options states that after the message is forwarded to the email address you have entered no further copies will be stored in your Gmail account.

I just got a Roadrunner email and no longer want to use CCC email. How can I have my email forwarded and have the college contact me at my new email address?

Use the following steps to forward your CCC email to your Roadrunner email address:
- Using your CCC Login ID and Password login to student email.

| The college’s goal by providing email accounts is to facilitate communications with students. It is important for you to be able to receive critical notices and information quickly and efficiently. E-Mail and web self service are fast becoming the default means for interacting with the college. If you do not use your CCC e-mail account, you may miss vital communication from your instructors. |
