Finding Subject Databases in
In addition to the multi-purpose databases like Proquest and Academic Search Elite, NCLIVE has many databases devoted to a particular topic or field of study, such as business, health, literature and others.
To find these databases, go to:http://www.nclive.org/browse.phtml, or click the Browse resources tab on NCLIVE's home page. You'll find links to groupings of databases for each topic. From there, you can look at the descriptions for each database, and choose the one you want to use.
Finding Full-Text Publications in
NCLIVE's Finding Full-Text Publications feature allows you to read the entire contents of many newspapers and magazines online. Here's how the feature works:
Go to: http://www.nclive.org/browse.html, or click the Browse resources tab on NCLIVE's home page. This will take you to the page pictured below.

Click the link at the bottom of the page that says "Find Full-Text Publications." That will take you to the page shown below.

Type in the name of the publication you want into the search box and choose the "Exact title" option. Click on the Search button, and you'll be taken to a page like the one pictured below.

Often, a publication will be available in multiple databases. Choose the one that has the years of coverage you need and click on the link.
Citing Articles Found on
Citing an article found on NCLIVE is a little different than citing an article you find in a magazine or a Web site you find through Google. We are grateful to the folks at Willis N. Hackney Library at Barton College in Wilson for putting together a helpful guide on citing NCLIVE resources. You can find that guide here.
We hope this information has been helpful to you and has helped you understand the value of NCLIVE, as well as its relative ease of use. If you have any questions about using NCLIVE or any of the databases contained within, please call us at (252) 638-7272 or e-mail us at: libraryc@cravencc.edu. We'll be happy to assist you.
