General Education Development (GED)The GED program prepares adults to take the five GED tests required to complete a high school equivalency. Subjects include writing, reading, social studies, science, and math. The GED is recognized nationally as a legal equivalent of a high school diploma. A GED serves the same purpose as a high school diploma in meeting most job requirements and is accepted in place of a high school diploma at most community colleges and four-year colleges and universities. The North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges awards GED diplomas to students who successfully complete the GED tests. New Bern and Havelock are official GED testing centers. The GED test is given throughout each month. There is a $7.00 test fee. GED classes are offered day and evening and textbooks are provided for the student use. For more information call Semantha Watkins GED/AHS Coordinator at 638-7364 GED Class Schedule
