OverviewIt takes a team of people on the ground to keep America's top pilots in the air. At Craven Community College's Institute of Aeronautical Technology (IAT), you can learn what it takes to keep America flying! Since 2004, the IAT, which anchors Craven Community College's Havelock campus, has offered comprehensive, state-of-the-art training in aircraft maintenance – training that's essential to prepare workers for employment at Fleet Readiness Center East at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point or with private or commercial aviation firms. Students enrolled in Craven Aviation Systems Technology program get hands-on training with a wide variety of military and civilian aircraft. They become familiar with a complete array of aircraft systems, from nose to tail. As they progress, they become eligible to test for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifications in both Airframe and Powerplant (A&P). The A&P certification can be a very valuable credential to have when seeking employment in military or civilian aviation. Aircraft technicians are highly skilled and highly paid. Through Craven's Aviation Systems Technology program, you can join them. The program takes four semesters plus two summer school sessions to complete. Let your career take flight today!
