Engineering Premajor (A1040D)
This premajor prepares students for transfer into a university school of engineering. Degree requirements at engineering schools differ among engineering majors and within the humanities, fine arts, and social sciences areas of the general education core. The academic advisor is the best source for this information.
Craven Community College also maintains a 2+2 engineering program with North Carolina State University (NCSU). Certain students within the 2+2 program will transfer to NCSU before completing the Associate in Science with a Premajor in Engineering degree. Academic Skills (1 Semester Hour Credit)
General Education Core (44 Semester Hours Credit)
The general education core includes study in the areas of humanities and fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences and mathematics, and English composition. Within the core, the college includes opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and the basic use of computers.
NOTE: The courses listed for Humanities and Social Science areas in the General Education core meet the requirements of North Carolina State University Engineering programs. Students planning to complete an engineering degree at another university may have other course opinions for these areas. Students should consult their academic advisor for this information.
