Associate in Science

Program Description

This 64-65 semester hour degree program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a college or university to complete a Bachelor of Science degree.  The Associate in Science (AS) degree emphasizes math and natural sciences.

Information

• A 44-semester hour general education core includes English, fine arts/humanities, and social/behavioral sciences while emphasizing mathematics and natural sciences.  The core requires 20 shc of mathematics and natural science courses.
• 20-21 semester hours of math and natural science electives develop depth and breadth in these areas.
• The core diploma of this degree, the 44-hour general education core plus ACA 111 or ACA 122, fulfills North Carolina university-system Basic Studies requirements.
• Four concentrations in the Associate of Science degree prepare students for specific science majors.
• A pre-major within the degree prepares for engineering degrees.
