    Program Description

    This 64-65 semester hour degree program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a college or university to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree. The Associate in Arts (AA) degree emphasizes the liberal arts.

    Information

    A 44-semester hour general education core develops a solid foundation in English, fine arts/humanities, social/behavioral sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences.

    20-21 semester hours of electives allow individuals to explore a variety of discipline areas or to focus on one discipline in depth.

    The core diploma of this degree, the 44-hour general education core plus ACA 111 or ACA 122, fulfills North Carolina university-system Basic Studies requirements.

    15 pre-majors within the degree prepare for specific university majors.

    Program Description

    This 64-65 semester hour degree program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a college or university to complete a Bachelor in Arts (BA) degree with a major in art or music, a Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) degree in art or music, or a Bachelor in Music (BM) degree. The AFA offers a concentration in Art or Music.

    The AFA degree is also a great choice for persons who want training in art or music with no plan to transfer to a baccalaureate institution.

    A 28-semester hour general education core develops a foundation in English, fine arts/humanities, social/behavioral sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences.

    36-37 semester hours of elective courses provide in-depth study of art or music.

  • Associate in General Education

    Program Description

    The Associate in General Education (AGE) is designed to meet the needs of students who are primarily interested in only two years of college. The AGE may also be used by students who need to take specific courses to transfer to a specialized major at a four year college or university.

    The Associate in General Education is not part of the comprehensive Articulation Agreement. However, college transfer courses taken within the Associate in General Education degree will be transferable on a course-by-course basis. A student completing this degree may combine a variety of college transferable general education courses with industrial or service technologies core courses to obtain a two-year degree that is applicable to their specific job or career goal.

  • Associate in Science

    Program Description

    This 64-65 semester hour degree program is designed for students who plan to transfer to a college or university to complete a Bachelor of Science degree. The Associate in Science (AS) degree emphasizes math and natural sciences.

    Information

    A 44 semester hour general education core including English, fine arts/humanities, and social/behavioral sciences while emphasizing mathematics and natural sciences. The core requires 20 semester hours of mathematics and natural science courses.

    20-21 semester hours of math and natural science electives develop depth and breadth in these areas.

    The core diploma of this degree, the 44-hour general education core plus ACA 111 or ACA 122, fulfills North Carolina university-system Basic Studies requirements.

    Four concentrations in the Associate of Science degree prepare students for specific science majors.

    A pre-major within the degree prepares students for engineering degrees.
