Overview

Let Craven Community College be your Information Technology training department! Craven offers trainings for organizations and companies at an affordable price.  All seated computer classes have a $5 technology fee in addition to their course fees.

 GETTING STARTED

Computer Skills for Beginners Office 2003-NB

This course will help you familiarize yourself with all the Microsoft Office programs available on your computer and what you can do with them. This course is followed by the Basics of Computer Fundamentals course.

Basics of Computer Fundamentals-NB

This course starts you in the right direction to using your computer most effectively. The first part of the class will teach you to navigate Outlook, manage your e-mails, navigate the Web and use MS Word. The second part will help you create and save files as documents, letters and spreadsheets with using Excel. The third part of the class covers learning how to format paragraphs and documents. At the end of this course, you will be able to perform basic editing tasks, navigate in documents and among open files, insert, delete, select, replace, move, copy text and many other functions.

 #Database Analysis and Design-Online

This course is an exploration of the established and evolving methodologies for the analysis, design, and development of a database system. Emphasis is placed on business data characteristics and usage, managing database projects, prototyping and modeling, and CASE tools.

Intermediate Microsoft Office 2003-NB

In this advanced level MS Office 2003 class, you will be able to go beyond the basics of the worksheet, documents. Use templates and graphics, sort and filter data, perform calculations using special database functions, use analysis tools including pivot tables and outlines, and create worksheet links and consistency with styles. Gain an understanding of basic graphic design principles, create flyers, newsletters, set up columns and tables within documents.

 Microsoft Excel 2007 for Beginners-NB

This course will help you how to utilize spreadsheets for your finances. The course will include fundamental formula creation, formatting features, display characteristics, editing, moving and copying and sorting.

 Intermediate Microsoft Excel 2007-NB

In this advanced level course, theory and uses of electronic spreadsheets, including applications, model design, report generation and other features will be covered.

 Microsoft Word 2007 for Beginners-NB

Learn the many features of this word processing program. This course will help you create professional documents such as letters, memos, résumés and reports. Learn to take advantage of helpful features such as the spelling and grammar check, cutting, copying and pasting items, as well as creating professional-looking formats for your work.

 Intermediate Microsoft Word 2007-NB

Microsoft Word is a full-featured word processing program you can use to do everything from simple letter writing to dynamic desktop publishing. Upon completion of this course, you will use these time-saving features: templates, wizards, macros, mail merge and more. You also will be able to use Word's desktop publishing tools.

This course introduces the networking field. Emphasis is placed on network terminology and protocols, local-area networks, wide-area networks, OSI model, cabling, router programming, Ethernet, IP addressing, and network standards. This is a partial online class.

 #Routing Basics-NB

This course focuses on initial router configuration, router software management, routing protocol configuration, TCP/IP, and access control lists (ACLs). Emphasis will be placed on the fundamentals of router configuration, managing router software, routing protocol, and access lists. This is a partial online class.
