The
Academic Skills Center (ASC) provides academic support to
curriculum students enrolled in courses at all levels. The
ASC staff provides tutorial services through the Math Lab,
Writing Lab, and Computer Lab. In addition, the ASC offers
peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, and a variety of
workshops.
The
ASC staff also work with students who have learning and
physical disabilities (http://www.usdoj.gov/crt/ada/adahom1.htm).
Students with disabilities should contact the Director of
the Academic Skills Center.
The
New Bern campus ASC also administers distance education
and make-up tests.
Fall
and Spring testing hours for distance education and make-up
tests are as follows:
Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Summer

Math Lab
The
Math Lab is an open lab available to students taking math
courses at all levels. Math tutors may not always be available
for one-on-one tutoring. However, students who have visited
the math lab and wish to work with a tutor one-on-one should
contact the Director of the ASC.
Writing
Lab
The
Writing Lab is an open lab available to all curriculum students
seeking help with writing and research skills. Tutors may
not always be available for one-on-one tutoring. However,
students who have visited the writing lab and wish to work
with a tutor one-on-one should contact the Director of the
ASC.
Computer Lab
The
Computer Lab offers students access to word processing and
Internet research. The lab also provides computer tutorials
as well as math and English tutorial software.
Havelock
Academic Skills Center
The
Havelock ASC is located in room 130 of the Redd building.
This center houses a math and writing lab, and offers peer
tutoring and workshops.
Fall
and Spring semester hours for the Havelock
