Distance Education Committee
The Distance Education Committee works collaboratively with the Office of Distance Education to increase the awareness of Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) guidelines for Distance Education, to provide suggestion for compliance with SACS guidelines, to develop Distance Education course standards, to evaluate best practices, tools, technologies, instructional and design rubrics to support the College's mission by providing high quality distance education courses and programs.
The Distance Education Committee’s responsibilities include:
- Awareness of SACS guidelines for Distance Education
- Providing suggestions for compliance with SACS guidelines
- Developing a Distance Education Standards Handbook and Website and thereafter, annually reviewing, updating and editing the Distance Education Standards Handbook
- Developing standards and review rubrics for distance education delivery methods.
- Making recommendations for improving and subsequently approving existing distance education courses in accordance with online standards before continuance or activation.
Membership will include:
- Dean LSC
- Coordinator of Distance Education
- Learning Management System Administrator
- Health Sciences faculty member
- Career Programs faculty member
- Liberal Arts faculty member
- Havelock campus faculty member
- Adjunct Faculty member
- Department chair (one chair will be appointed each academic year)
