Browser's Cache informationCached page settings can cause errors in your attempts to log in successfully to Moodle or Blackboard at Craven Community College. Internet Explorer and Firefox use Default settings allowing cached web pages. If you have attempted to log in to Moodle, Blackboard or other sites unsuccessfully, please check your browser cache page settings. NOTE: When visiting websites where dynamic data changes frequently, the browser needs to get a new copy of the page every time. If you would like to switch the setting to reset the cache every time the web page is visited, below are the instructions. Internet ExplorerIf you using a computer with Internet Explorer 9.x, Internet Explorer 8.x, Internet Explorer 7.x, Internet Explorer 5 or 6,please review your cached page settings to increase successful login attempts. Review your web browser settings for Internet Explorer by performing three steps.
Below are the following steps the check and change your cached file settings if necessary for either Internet Explorer 9.x or 8.x, Internet Explorer 7.x, Internet Explorer 5 or 6. If you use Internet Explorer 9.x or 8.x as your web browser:
Step 1: On the Menu Bar, Click Tools, then Internet Options.
Step 2: On the General Tab, in the Browsing History area , click Settings.
Make sure "Check for newer versions of stored pages is set to "Every time I visit the web page". If it is NOT set to this option, Change it to ensure accurate login attempts at all times on the computer you are using. Internet Explorer Step 2: After clicking OK, you will see the General Tab.
In the Browsing History area, click the Delete Files button.
Select Temporary Internet Files and Cookies. Click the Delete Button. NOTE: This removes online and offline cached pages from your computer.
Click OK to accept the changes in Internet Explorer 8.x. Attempt to load the BlackBoard login page. If you have any difficulty loading the page, immediately after these changes. Close Internet Explorer and reopen the browser. Now try to login to Blackboard. If you use Internet Explorer 7.x as your web browser:
Step 1: On the Menu Bar, Click Tools, the Internet Options.
On the General Tab, in the Browsing History area , click Settings.
Make sure "Check for newer versions of stored pages is set to "Every time I visit the web page". If it is NOT set to this option, Change it to ensure accurate login attempts at all times on the computer you are using.
After clicking OK, you will see the General Tab. In the Browsing History area, click the Delete button. NOTE: This removes online and offline cached pages from your computer. Click Apply, then Click OK, and close all browser windows. Attempt to load the BlackBoard login page. If you have any difficulty loading the page, immediately after these changes. Close Internet Explorer and reopen the browser. Now try to login to Blackboard or Moodle. If you use Internet Explorer 5 or 6 as your web browser:
Step 1: On the Menu Bar, Click Tools, Internet Options.
On the General Tab, in the Temporary Internet Files Frame, click Settings.
Be sure Internet Explorer is set to "Check for newer versions of stored pages, Every visit to the page". If it is NOT set to this option, CHANGE it to this option. Click OK to accept the change you just made in Internet Explorer.
After clicking OK, you will see the General Tab, again. In the Temporary Internet Files frame, click the Delete Files... button. This removes online and offline cached pages from your computer. Now you'll be able to request a fresh copy of any web page, EVERYTIME you visit a website. Attempt to load the BlackBoard or Moodle login page. If you have any difficulty loading the page, immediately after these changes. Close Internet Explorer and reopen the browser. Now try to login to Blackboard or Moodle. FirefoxFirefox enables you to configure your settings to allow the browser to check for newer versions of the page each and every time. Instructions
If you receive the below popup window and wish to proceed select “I'll be careful, I promise!“ and please proceed carefully. If you do NOT feel comfortable making this change, select your home page button. Your browser will use the default setting which is "check for a new version when the page is out of date."
Additional Information:The default cache in Firefox is set at 3. It means the browser will always used an old, cached version of the web page, unless the server specifically indicates a newer one is available. Valid values for browser.cache.check_doc_frequency are:
