Explorations: Seeking New Worlds
Presented by Craven Community College and Public Radio East
YOU ARE INVITED ONCE AGAIN-
We hope you will join us for the 2007-08 Explorations: Seeking New Worlds, International Film and Lecture Series. The series is presented by the Craven Community College Lifetime Learning Center in partnership with Public Radio East. Each year we work to bring you a view of the world through films and to hear about the world through lectures. All of us, volunteer committees and staff of the college and PRE, view our work selecting and presenting the films and lectures as a real labor of love. It's such a pleasure to see growing numbers of people attending the films and lectures and to hear your enthusiastic comments.

COREY FLINTOFF Thursday, March 13
REPORTING FROM IRAQ FOR NPR
After 17 years as the afternoon voice of NPR's newscasts, Corey Flintoff is stepping out from the newscaster's booth to be a correspondent with the NPR Foreign Desk. Beginning in August of 2007, Flintoff will be reporting from Iraq. Flintoff began a temporary stint on the Foreign Desk in the summer of 2005, reporting from Iraq, Jerusalem and Haiti. As correspondent, Flintoff reports for NPR's newsmagazines Morning Edition and All Things Considered and the world news section of NPR.org. Flintoff joined NPR as a newscaster in 1990. For years, he was a part of NPR listeners' homeward commutes, reporting the latest news at the start of each hour of All Things Considered. Flintoff will conclude our series of lectures soon after his first full rotation on the Foreign Desk in Iraq comes to a close. He'll be speaking about his experiences as a reporter in the region and the challenges of reporting on the war in Iraq.
