International Students Information

Craven Community College is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant students. The application materials listed below are for students wishing to study under an F-1 visa only. All other international student admission inquiries can be directed to the Craven’s Enrollment Services Office at (252) 638-7200.

Application Procedures

All completed application forms and documents must be submitted directly to:

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the extended time it takes to submit all materials needed to complete the I-20 approval process, please submit all of the information included in the application by the following application deadlines:

Fall Semester Entry (August): Deadline for receipt of all materials is March 1.
Spring Semester Entry (January): Deadline for receipt of all materials is August 1.

Application documentation

• Prospective International Student Welcome Letter
• Download, review and complete International Student Admissions Checklist. It contains important information about all admissions procedures and requirements.
• Completed International (F1) Application for Admission
• Completed I-134, Affidavit of Support Form. All required financial documentation must be submitted with the I-134 form. In order to qualify for an I-20, a single student must document at least $27,000.00 in available funding per year. Students with dependents must document additional funding.
• International (F1) Student Medical History completed and signed by you and your Physician.
• Signed I-20 Application and Student Responsibility Agreement
• The Transfer Clearance Form of International Students must be completed ONLY if you are currently residing in the U.S. and you intend to transfer to Craven Community College from another U.S. college or university.

Cost and Fees

An international student present in the U.S. on an academic student visa (F-1) is considered a non-resident for the purpose of tuition payments.

Housing

Because Craven Community College is a commuter campus with no on-campus housing available, international students are expected to make their own housing arrangements. Students can begin apartment searching through the following resources:

• The Sun Journal is New Bern’s local newspaper and many apartments/rooms for rent are listed in the classified section Keyword: New Bern.
• Apartment Finder is a national database of available housing. You can do a search by typing in New Bern, NC in the Search Box and the site will display a list of are apartment communities. When looking for apartments, please make sure to be aware of the distance from the apartment to the college so that you can make any necessary travel accommodations.
• Apartment Guide has an option to find apartments within a 5-mile radius of Craven Community College.
