Financial Aid

Cost is one of the most important considerations in selecting a college today. More people are finding it difficult to meet the cost of a college education as a result of the rising cost of living, inflation, and unemployment.

The purpose of all financial aid awarded at Craven Community College is to provide monetary assistance to students who, without the receipt of aid, would be unable to begin or continue their studies at this institution.

Only students who have been accepted for admission will be offered financial assistance. For funds that are limited, priority will be given to students who apply early and show the highest need. Students must reapply for aid each school year.

We hope the information contained here will explain thoroughly what one must do to be considered for financial aid and what ones rights and responsibilities might be if selected to participate in the financial assistance programs offered at Craven Community College.

If you, or your parents, have additional questions or concerns; do not hesitate to write, call, or come by the Student Financial Aid Office. We will be glad to try to assist you in whatever way possible.

Our address and telephone numbers are, here.

Financial Aid Philosopy

The philosophy of student assistance began and continues to be to provide access and choices to students, who without such assistance would not be able to attend an institution of higher learning. Through the use of Federal, state and local funds, Craven Community College makes every effort to assist students in the continuation of their education.

The primary responsibility for financing a college education rests with the individual. Generally, financial aid will be supplied according to current income and assets. The student is expected to share in this responsibility through savings, summer work, and part-time employment when necessary.

The college makes every effort to provide students with the appropriate type and amount of assistance once eligibility has been demonstrated. Any monies awarded should supplement, rather than replace, the resources available to the student. Financial aid is to be used by the recipient for such expenses as tuition and fees, books, personal needs, travel, room and board, and child care if necessary in order to remain in college.
