Career Development and Assessment
Career Development offers software programs and printed materials to aid students in career exploration and employment skills. Counselors are available in Student Services to interpret assessment results and to answer questions about careers and about the College. The Career Center, adjacent to Student Services, opened its doors to students in January 2001 and now shares its space with the numerous testing programs offered by the College. Equipped with 20 workstations with Internet access, the Center provides online services for students to apply for financial aid, as well as to apply for admission to other colleges or universities. The Career/Testing Center is open Monday through Friday. Interested students and staff should check the Test Center schedule before arriving to use the computers. A telephone and fax machine are available for students to use in making local contacts with employers to set up appointments, fax a resume, or follow up on a job interview.
In addition to computerized programs, printed materials are available with job-seeking tips, interview suggestions, sample resumes, etc. Students can make an appointment to have a counselor review their resumes and assist in using Career Center software.
