Career Development and Assessment

Craven Community College is committed to helping students prepare for employment. The Career Center is located in Student Services on the first floor of the Brock Administration Building. The Career Center offers the following services:

  • Assessment of skills, aptitudes and interests
    - Transferable work content skills
    - Aptitudes
    - Interests
  • Match skills to potential occupations
    - Relate jobs to skills assessment
    - Connect to labor market information
    -- Employment trends
    -- Wages
  • Locate training programs and providers
    - Identify programs that train for an occupation
    - Identify schools that provide that training
  • Develop individual employment plans (portfolio)
    - Create a career plan
    - Create an education plan
    - Track job search activities
    - Write a resume
    - Learn interviewing skills
    - Learn employability skills
    Counselors are available to help students interpret information and assessment results.

  • CHOICES Planner
    The average person changes jobs about every four years and four out of ten workers are in some stage of career change at any time. Career Services has a tool to help you make decisions about changing careers or choosing one. That tool is called CHOICES Planner. CHOICES Planner is an online career information delivery system that helps students compare, connect, and choose from a career network of education and work options. Click the link to find out more about CHOICES Planner.

    Cooperative Education Program
    Cooperative Education at Craven Community College is an educational plan integrating classroom learning with supervised work experience.  The primary objectvie of Cooperative Education is to provide a student with work experience that is directly related to a student's educational program of study and to provide that student with skills that prepare him or her for employment. To find our more about work experience credit,
