Gain the credential needed to work as a Medication Aide in skilled nursing homes. This class will prepare you for the NC Medication Aide Registry exam. Nurse aide credentials will also be required to work in a skilled nursing home as a medication aide. This class is limited to 10 seats.

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for becoming qualified as a Medication Aide. The course will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications. Upon completion, students should be able to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry.

  • Textbook information: Medication Administration book is only available through the college bookstore. Approximate cost: $40. Must bring to first class.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Bring copy to first class.
  • Students must wear white pressed lab jacket to all classes; no jeans
  • Exam fee: $59 payable to Credentia after completion of course
